Dan February 14, 2013 for Model Number wed6400sw1 i have 1 broken coil and 2 fused together dryer still gets hot but takes forever to dry clothes. Keeps getting AF code but had it cleaned out and there is no blockage also changed the thermister. Would a bad heating element cause this and the AF code?
1 Answer Hello Dan, The broken and fused coil would cause the unit to not dry properly and would cause the AF error code. The unit is sensing temperature based on the setting. If the coil is fused togther and not heating properly this will reduce the heat relation to the board which will feel like the duct is blocked because it is taking longer than normal to dry. John November 25, 2012 for Model Number wed6400sw0 The dryer stopped getting warm. I removed the heater and two of the coiled wires were fused together. I separated them and recrimped them to the connectors. I still have no heat. I checked voltage from the wire harness to the heater assembly and I got 110 volts to each of the heater elements. If I order part number 8573069 will I also need to order the thermostat. Is there a way to bench test the thermostat?
1 Answer Hello John. The thermostat should read closed for continuity. Did you test for voltage with the wires unhooked from the heater? If so, replace the heater. Read More...
