The Washer Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This assembly is essential for the washer's ability to drain water out of the drum after the wash and rinse cycles, ensuring clothes are properly spun and not left soaking wet.

Causes of a malfunctioning washer drain pump assembly can include blockages from small items or debris, such as coins, socks, or lint, that accidentally make their way into the pump.

Symptoms of a bad Washer Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining out of the washer, leaving clothes wet
  • Unusual noises coming from the pump area, indicating a blockage or damage
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle due to inability to drain
  • Error codes displayed on the washer related to draining issues

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Leah, You would need to visually inspect underneath. Water lines, drain lines, possibly damaged tub and water valve would be a good place to start. We would need the model number of your unit to help you any further.

John for Model Number WFW9470WW01

My Whirlpool front load washer drains all water from the drum without error or error messages. However, within hours, and moe often than not, water either appears in the drum (amount varies) or can be heard when the drum is hand spun. I've checked all hoses (no kinks & nothing apparently stuck in hoses) and the drain catch (all clean and clear). I don't get any error messages, and water doesn't always return to the drum. It seems most literature I've read about the drain pump motor failing has been it won't drain any water, which is not my situation. Can this issue be attributed to something other than drain pump motor failure?

Wesley, No, this would not be a "Canadian Price". AppliancePartsPros.com parts prices are US currency, and we do not ship parts outside of the USA or her territories. The 280187 Washer Drain Pump Assembly is a "complete" assembly and has all the parts needed including the drain pump filter and instructions. This is a "factory direct" replacement part and cost is comparable across the parts distribution industry for a "new" factory replacement part. Thanks,

Hello Philip, the fault code refers to the control board still seeing water in the tub after it has powered the drain pump for 8 minutes, you can check the air trap at the rear of the tub where the pressure switch airline tube connects for any blockage, if it checks ok then the drain pump is starting to fail part WPW10730972,

Ann,this can be caused by an unbalanced clothes load, the control board will detect an unbalanced load and prevent a high speed spin cycle from occurring, try adding more clothes or a few towels to load and if still continues then main control board WP8182789 may starting to fail since there are no fault codes showing.

Rosanna, The drain pump should be as quiet as the original drain pump and unfortunately do not show how many vanes are on the pump.

Hello Margaret. Check and make sure the filter is not clogged in the pump. If not, then see if there is power to the pump. If so, you will need to order and replace the pump on the unit. Thank you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
