This is a flexible coupling bushing - commonly called a spider bushing - that connects the engine to the hydraulic pump on a log splitter. It absorbs vibration and compensates for minor misalignment between the motor shaft and pump shaft. Replace this bushing if you notice excessive vibration, unusual noises from the pump area, or if the hydraulic pump is not engaging properly.
