Douglas C New Bern , NC September 16, 2020 Appliance: Model SAMSUNG DRYER #DV400EWHDWR/AA Samsung dryer heating element failed. I did a search on appliancepartspros.com by entering the model # of my Samsung dryer for the correct part # for the heating element. Found the part and read the reviews. I also discovered for just a couple of dollars more I could purchase the complete heating element assembly, which included the Samsung dryer thermistor and thermal fuse (fully assembled) for just a couple of dollars more than just purchasing the heating element alone. note: These parts were on sale at the time. I watched the video, which was extremely helpful, to see how both parts were installed and decided to purchase the heating element assembly. I have a different model than the one depicted in the video (white with a solid dryer door), but the internals are the same. I removed the heating element assembly from my dryer, per the video to make sure I had the correct part. I ordered the part on Labor Day and received it on Friday. I received the part in perfect condition and since I had already disassembled the dryer once I received the part it only took me about 30 minutes to put it back together. It worked Great. Kuddos to "packaged by SLM". What I learned from the reviews, the video and my experience: 1. Watch the video. I watched it several times. 2. As per the reviews take a photo of the wiring or make a wiring diagram to make sure you reconnect the wires properly. 3. For a couple of extra dollars order the heating element assembly. It will save you a lot of time during the install. 4. The heating element I replaced was installed three and a half years ago under the warranty and it was an OEM part. I found parts on other websites a lot less expensive, but in reading the reviews i found that some of these parts were failing after only a few weeks to a few months. I am expecting better performance from the part I purchased from this website. If not I will do a follow-up review. 5. Very pleased with ease of navigating the website, the video, the packaging and the delivery time.. Hope this helps. Matthew P Urbana , IL February 26, 2022 Appliance: Samsung Dryer DV42H5000EW/A3-02 Dryer didn't cool down and then it stopped spinning The dryer had been giving us problems for several weeks. A couple of times, it would stop spinning and give the "HE" code, which I learned is due to a faulty heating element. Other times, the dryer would have 1 minute left, except it would be another 60 minutes of that 1 minute before it turned off. The clothes were getting dry, but they were, in my words, a hot potato. The clothes were scorching hot at the end of the drying cycle when the dryer finally decided to shut off. I was thrown off by the fact that the HE code usually indicates that there is no heat according to my research. We had the opposite problem. The clothes did not cool down. It took me a few tries to understand what was happening in order to perform the mighty Google search. It brought me to a single forum thread in which the poster had the same issue as us. They seemed to be the only ones that had the same problem. One of the respondents seemed to be able to diagnose the issue very quickly and copied a URL to this website for a new heating element. I was still resistant to the idea until one day the dryer just stopped spinning. That was when I knew I had to do something. I took apart the dryer based on your videos on replacing the idle pulley. I discovered the belt had come off the other pulley or something related. When I put everything back together, the dryer was able to spin again. I went ahead and ordered a new heating element assembly to replace all the components related to the heating element since I was unsure which particular component would be the culprit. It was also cheaper and would have been less time-consuming to install. I don't have time to fiddle around with things, unfortunately. I was able to replace the heating element assembly, but I did have to do something slightly different than what your video indicated. I guess our dryer is an older model; the bracket that the heating element assembly sits on is screwed in the inside where you showed the two slits that it should slide out of. I actually had to take out the drum to reach in and replace the heating element assembly. Thankfully, the video I watched about replacing the idle pulley helped me learn how to do that. The heating element assembly is awesome. It smells like a brand new dryer now. I mean, I did clean up a lot of lint that had gotten stuck inside, too, but replacing the heating element assembly was really helpful. I discovered that the old heating element was all black--surely not a good thing. I do have another issue that I'm debating what to do about--a squeaky dryer. It wasn't until I disassembled everything that it got so squeaky, but I haven't decided yet if it is the idle pulley or the wheels that spin around the drum. There is a groove in the idle pulley, but I'm unsure if that's a feature or a bug from being worn down in the same spot over and over. Louis C Kissimmee , FL October 03, 2014 Dryer wouldn't produce heat Simple, ordered the heating element assembly, saved a few bucks over buying separate pieces, the installation is easy and I have two thermostats left over for spares. most of the time spent on the repair was getting to the heater. Not hard just time consuming. Shut off power and unplug the dryer. Take the exhaust pipe and plate off (3 screws) remove the pipe. Take the top panel off (2 screws) put that aside. Unscrew the control panel (4 screws) leave connected and lay it on top of the dryer. Take off the front panel (8 screws, 6 on top two on the bottom inside of door opening) set panel aside. Look inside the dryer on the bottom right is the heater held on by one screw remove it. Disconnect the blue and red main wires. From the rear remove the unit, lift up the front move forward slightly to clear the heat vent. Transfer the pig tail wires from the old to the new unit. Do not bend the screw tab into shape until the unit is in place. Reassembly is totally in reverse. Tip, wear some sort of gloves, lots of sharp edges to look out for. By the way these guys are great, site is a snap to navigate, parts ordered on a Sunday morning and delivered on Tuesday for standard rates. Good pricing as well. Kelly P Denver , CO August 24, 2015 Heat went out on our samsung dryer dang bad timing We watched the Video from Appliance Parts Pros of how to repair our dryer and literally had it fixed in about the same amount of time as it took to watch the video. Taking the dryer apart is typically what would scare one away from a self repair...but it was explained in detail and actually was super easy to fix. What a wonderful company!! Self fixed and saved us from having to wait for a repair man and we didn't have any repair bill....except for the part...but even that was at a very reasonable price. Wahoo....now...back to my laundry.... Read More... 26 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
