David H Ellicott City , MD September 03, 2016 The washing machine wouldn't drain I opened the washer and replaced the pump. To open the washer: 1. Remove the 2 screws that are different from the others in the top back corners of the machine. That will let you remove the top. 2. Remove the soap tray and its holder. The tray comes out if you depress the tab in the back center. Its holder comes out if you remove the two screws in the front. You can leave all the hoses attached. 3. Remove the control panel. It snaps in. Undo the top snaps first. You'll have to reach into the machine where you can't see, and push the plastic tabs forward to undo the bottom snaps. Unplug the cables. 4. Remove the front. Undo the screws on top. Remove the clamp holding on rubber drum seal. Remove the 3 screws holding on the interlock. Remove the 2 screws on the bottom. The front also snaps in (you can see the two tabs on top holding it in) so you need to unsnap those, and it comes right off. 5. Remove the pump assembly. It's in the lower left. Remove all the hoses, and wires, and the two screws you can see from the front. It has a foot that connects to the steel cross beam, push the assembly towards the back of the machine and lift, and it will disconnect. 6. At this point the pump is removed with 3 screws. 7. With the old pump off, I put the new on on and reversed the disassembly. Michael C Cincinnati , OH March 04, 2019 Appliance: Samsung Washer WF42H5200AW/A2-0000 E5 wouldn’t drain. I put the washer up on blocks so that I could drain it into a larger container. I drained about 7 gallons of water out of it before the door sensor would unlock the door. After that was done, it took about an hour to complete. The video on the website was spot on. Stefan L Oklahoma City , OK December 28, 2020 Error code 5e; drain pump motor impeller shaft sheared. After working through the recommended troubleshooting tasks with no resolution. Performed diagnostic check and verified the washer was not draining. Followed tutorial on how to accomplish pump removal with success. The cause for the drain code was due to the impeller shaft being sheared. Navigation through the website and verification that it was the correct part for the model washer I had was great and ensuring to cross-reference and letting me know it was a newer part model. Ordered the new pump and as promised with the delivery option selected it was delivered next day. Upon receiving the item the back cover plate to the part was broken and not useable if I needed it. Not sure if was due to lack of packing material and it broke sometime during the shipment. We were concerned if the pump would be operational after the install. But the pump has been replaced and so far working with no issues. Will follow-up with an additional comment after 1 month of use.
