How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP6977256 / DC31-00187A Washer Drain Pump Motor

I put the washer up on blocks so that I could drain it into a larger container. I drained about 7 gallons of water out of it before the door sensor would unlock the door. After that was done, it took about an hour to complete. The video on the website was spot on. 

After working through the recommended troubleshooting tasks with no resolution. Performed diagnostic check and verified the washer was not draining. Followed tutorial on how to accomplish pump removal with success. The cause for the drain code was due to the impeller shaft being sheared. Navigation through the website and verification that it was the correct part for the model washer I had was great and ensuring to cross-reference and letting me know it was a newer part model. Ordered the new pump and as promised with the delivery option selected it was delivered next day. Upon receiving the item the back cover plate to the part was broken and not useable if I needed it. Not sure if was due to lack of packing material and it broke sometime during the shipment. We were concerned if the pump would be operational after the install. But the pump has been replaced and so far working with no issues. Will follow-up with an additional comment after 1 month of use. 

Replaced the drain pump. 

Samsung frontload washer. I had to take apart about half the washer to change out the pump. Reassembled everything and had a leak. Pump did not seal properly. Had to take everything apart again. The recycling hose was dripping because it had some sort of foam gasket which I removed thinking it was debris (which was not mentioned in any work video). Reassembled and still leaking. Took apart AGAIN and removed the pump, put a thin layer of silicone caulk and reassembled. Now it works perfectly. Love Samsung but stupid design. Should have an access panel on the bottom like Kenmore and other washers. 

Replaced with a new water pump. Used the instructional video on the steps to perform the repair which were very helpful. Initial pump arrived damaged. Replacement for that pump arrived the following day. 

I watched a bunch of videos trying to diagnose the problem. Figured it out and searched for the part. Found this website which had the part in stock. Amazingly enough they had a video on how to change this drain pump out! Plus how to put the machine all back together without having to watch the video in reverse. That was so helpful! It was so easy and saved us a lot of money by doing it myself. I would highly recommend this site for any products and videos. 

Removed all exterior skins & assemblies to gain access to the pump. Removed the pump assembly and disassembled pump motor. Cleaned blockages in all hose ports & Filter screen within the pump housing. Reassembled & tested. 

Ordered a new Door Boot and Drain Pump from you guys and simply replaced them. Parts showed up promptly and fit and work correctly. Saved me a lot of time and headaches. Thanks!
