- Disconnect power before servicing; turn off water supply if applicable
- Use ESD protection and handle the board by its edges
- Photograph/label all connectors; move harnesses one at a time and transfer any jumpers/settings from the old board if present
- Mount securely, reconnect wiring, reassemble, then run the unit's diagnostic/self-test per the service manual

There are 4 things that have to do with the working of the heating element in this dishwasher (assuming everything else is working). 1) The heating element itself, 2) the high-temp. thermal limit switch (sometimes called the thermostat), 3) the wiring from the heating element back to the control unit in the door, and 4) the control unit.

Given that I had 14 house guests for a week, I tried calling a Maytag repair man to expedite the fix - unfortunately, he didn't have the part, but did identify the problem as a bad control panel. Googled constant beeping, not starting and was directed to the keypad controller. Ordered it, it was delivered next day. Removed the screws on the door, lifted the old keypad off with a knife since it is just glued on. Cleaned the old glue off with acetone and laid the new strip on. Could not have been easier.
