The real problem was with the heat sensors. I took it to the repair shop.
Changing the timer was a breeze. Just two screws and disconnect the wires and reattached.

Frigidaire Affinity washer would not empty soap dish on regular/normal cycle Brian M. • Valencia , CA • April 05, 2014
After asking a few question to a repairman I took machine apart checked waterlines and water orifices for clogs....none. Did a ohm check of the four water regulating solenoids....OK! Next and last was the control board. Ran machine in other cycles soap dumped. Control board....BAD! Replaced it. It all works fine now.
Total time for repair about an hour. Saved $200+part for a repairman to come out and do it. Total cost $140 for part.

E68 error code Marion B. • Union , SC • February 04, 2017
The error code indicated a stuck button and I used You Tube videos to research the issue and to review the fix. After the videos showed several options including a self test to eliminate options to do a final resolution of the issue identifying not just a stuck button but a faulty control board. The board was ordered and replaced using only a Philips screw driver and less than an hour of time.

Maytag gas dryer wasn't drying and sometimes the heat would not come on at all Larry K. • Wauconda , IL • June 26, 2015
Looking through the small sight window at the front bottom left, I saw the igniter glow orange and the blue gas flame come on. After about 1 minute, the flame went out. After another couple of minutes, the cycle would happen again. Sometimes the igniter would not come on at all. I took the front off the dryer and checked continuity on the igniter, flame sensor, and coils that operate the gas valve. All were ok. So I thought one of the safety switches was probably bad. I put the front of the...
