Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave blew line fuse   Gerald G. • St. Louis , MO • August 05, 2019

It took a long time to determine the problem but eventually I discovered that the plastic bracket (latch hook) that held the three door-switches showed appreciable wear from repeated door openings and closings. This wear stopped the door from sealing properly and the door switch safety mechanism blew the line fuse. Switch
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 5304493153

The Door Switch is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire wall ovens. It is a component located on the oven door that detects when the door is opened and closed. The door switch works alongside the control board to regulate oven operations based on door position.

Symptoms of a bad door switch can include:

  • Oven failing to automatically go into bake or warm modes after door closure
  • Interior lights not turning on when the door is opened
  • Control buttons/display remaining constantly lit instead of dimming
  • Oven not heating or functioning properly in different modes

Causes relate to normal wear over extended use as the door switch mechanism cycles with frequent door openings and closings. Moisture exposure or impacts could also degrade switch performance.

This OEM Frigidaire switch is compatible with Amana, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, and some Electrolux wall oven models as well.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Frigidaire microwave oven lights and timer work but oven doesn't heat   Reese F. • Essex Junction , VT • August 16, 2015

I diagnosed this problem via the web and the advice was spot on. The problem was a failure of the bottom door switch. I used a multimeter to verify that the switched never closed properly. It took me a minute to figure out how to remove the old switch (press a release tab under the switch while simultaneously rotating counter-clockwise). That was about the most difficult part of the repair. Read more

Microwave Door Switch (Microswitch)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB24X10204

  • Part of the safety interlock system that stops operation if the door opens mid-cycle

What's included: 1 microswitch
  • Disconnect power before service; microwave capacitors can retain a dangerous charge
  • Note wire positions and move them to the same terminals on the new switch
  • Ensure the door latch cleanly actuates the switch; test operation before reassembly

Door Latch Assembly (Microwave)
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 4026W2A016A

This door latch assembly engages the interlock switches when the microwave door closes, keeping the door securely shut. Replacing a worn latch restores safe door engagement and allows the oven to operate only when properly closed.

  • Hooks into the cabinet strike to hold the door closed
  • Actuates the interlock switches to permit heating
  • Helps resolve: door won't latch or stay shut, "Door/Open" error messages, unit won't start unless the door is pressed
  • Replaces a visibly cracked, worn, or broken latch
What's included: 1 door latch assembly Install notes:
  • Unplug the microwave before servicing; microwaves contain high-voltage components—work only on the door, not inside the cabinet
  • Remove the inner door trim to access the latch; note orientation and transfer any clips/hardware as found
  • Inspect the door strike and hinges for wear; misalignment can prevent proper latching
  • After reassembly, verify smooth door closure and that the oven will not run with the door open
