Broken switches on range Quincy V. • Las Vegas , NV • July 14, 2015
1) Unscrewed the metal pieces behind the switch panel. You'll notice 3 screws. Afterwards, I realized that I just needed to remove the screws to the left and right of the switch box. The box then slides out. If you take out the third that connects the box to the wire cover, just remember to screw that back in before you replace the box.
2) To make sure I didn't place the wiring in the wrong place, I basically took the wiring out one by one and placing it into the new switch.

The Vent Switch is an OEM replacement part for Bosch range hoods. It is an electronic control device located inside the range hood that regulates the internal vent and fan functions.
Causes of a faulty vent switch can include long-term use in high-heat cooking environments, damage from accidental spills or impacts, or normal component degradation over time.
Symptoms include:
- Failure of the fan or vents to engage during cooking
- Variable or inconsistent fan speeds that don't adequately vent smoke
- Electrical shorting or sparking noises from within the hood control unit
This genuine Bosch replacement part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore range hood models.

Part Number: 00414825
The Vent Control Button is an OEM component specifically designed for select Bosch downdraft ventilation ranges. Pressable from the countertop, its reliable switch operates the vent position. Precise guidance aligns ductwork airflows.
Symptoms of a faulty control button may include intermittent or unresponsive vent movement. Over-activation degrades contacts requiring change.
Causes of a bad button relate to typical contact wear reducing conductivity. Splashes introduce moisture necessitating replacement over time.
Causes of a bad vent control button involve:
- Vents remaining stuck open exposing grease-laden air
- Closed vents trapping cooking emissions near surfaces
- Failure to change vent direction as needed
This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with some Thermador, Dacor, and Viking downdraft ventilation ranges. Replace to maintain convenient vent management directing smoke and odors safely outdoors.

Broken downdraft switch James S. • Sunnyvale , CA • May 03, 2018
Found replacing the switch to be doable, but it was quite a delicate operation. This was for a Thermador range with a broken downdraft switch. It required the removal of 5 small screws which could easily be fumbled and dropped down where it would be difficult, if not impossible to retrieve. Two of the screws were facing the back, so it was a blind operation to remove and replace the screws. Required an offset screwdriver, as space was tight. So, be EXTREMELY careful to not drop the screws and...

Broken fan switch William S. • Marco Island , FL • October 02, 2015
Biggest problem was trying to get at the switch to replace it. Had to remove two allen head screws to gain access on the back panel of the range hood. The allen heads were very small fortunately I had a number bits from my old electric screw driver that allowed me to remove them. Even then I had to snake my way cutting my hand to get to the switch to replace it.
The positive part the switch was over $25 less the if purchased directly from GE through Appliance Pros.
