Refrigerator Start Switch Stack Parts
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 241707715
This compressor start device briefly energizes the compressor's start winding to get it running, then disengages automatically. Replacing a weak or open PTC can restore cooling and stop the repeating hum-click from the compressor area.
- Provides the initial boost for the compressor to start, then opens as the PTC warms
- Helps the compressor start reliably on each cooling cycle
- Works with the compressor's overload protector to safeguard the motor circuit
- Common symptoms of failure: not cooling, compressor won't start, rapid clicking or hum-click every few minutes, intermittent cooling after power cycling
What's included: 1 PTC compressor start device Install notes:
- Disconnect power and pull the unit forward to access the compressor compartment
- Remove the start-device cover; note wire positions
- Pull the old start device straight off the compressor terminals; avoid bending the pins
- Align the new device with the C–S–R terminals in the same orientation, push on fully, reconnect wires, reinstall cover, and restore power
- Inspect the mating overload protector and terminal connectors for heat damage before reassembly

- Signs of a failed start device can include no cooling because the compressor won't run
- Clicking or buzzing from the compressor area every few minutes
- Compressor starts intermittently or stops shortly after starting
What's included:
- Includes: 1 PTC start relay
Install notes:
- Disconnect power and pull the refrigerator forward to access the rear service area
- Remove the rear panel to reach the compressor compartment
- Unplug the wire harness and pull the old relay straight off the compressor terminals; note its orientation
- Push the new relay fully onto the compressor prongs, reconnect the harness, reinstall the panel, and restore power

Part Number: 6750C-0004R
The Compressor Overload Protector is an OEM replacement part for LG refrigerators. It plays an important safety role in protecting the compressor from damage due to excessive heat. Located near the compressor unit, the overload protector functions to shut off power to the compressor if temperatures become too high during operation.
Causes can include normal wear over time rendering it less responsive to temperature changes. Mineral or refrigerant deposits may also impede its ability to detect overheating conditions accurately.
Symptoms of a faulty overload protector include:
- Refrigerator fails to properly cool or the compressor does not run
- Circuit board or electrical component failure or burnout
- Lack of cold air production and higher than normal freezer/fridge temperatures
This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Sears/Kenmore models.
