The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. Gotta love the inter-webs and youtube.com I did a couple of searches and some troubleshooting. Everything pointed to the damper assembly and thermo so I ordered them as well as the new versions of the flimsy plastic drawer shelves, while I was working out of state during COVID. I had the parts waiting for me at the house. Rolled in Sunday, 22 minutes later, damper and thermo installed. The fridge is cooling. Today is Tuesday and everything is back down to temp. knuckle bump.
