I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge. However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models. I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. Only had to remove the front screw with a 1/4" nut driver and that provided enough of a gap for me to plug in the switch. I replaced the water inlet valve. The toughest part was closing off the feed line while I waited for the valve to be delivered. The needle valve used to install the feed line wouldn't close completely. I ended up fabricating a plug from some parts from the hardware store. The mounting bracket on the new valve was completely different from the original, but it still mounted easily enough. I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on. I googled the issue and read several articles. Most started with cleaning the coils (which mine are on the bottom) (19yr old Kenmore 363.9557812). I had not really ever cleaned them well, vacuuming did little. I had to remove the cardboard cover off the back of the frig, and blew them clean (front to back). I found that the Ice Maker in my GE side by side made ice but would not kick out the ice when it had formed, the heating element or the switch that controls it didn't work. I ordered a new ice maker switched it out took less than 3 minutes. The cord was very stiff and just long enough but I got it to connect and in 35-40 minutes I had fresh ICE!! Read more

I used a set of ring pliers to remove the old retaining ring, then spread the plastic ribs around the fan motor shaft with a small flat bladed screwdriver to ease removal of the old fan blade. I reversed the process to replace the blade, gently tapping a socket from my socket wrench set placed over the motor shaft and ribs with a small rubber mallet.
