This is a shift actuator motor that controls the clutch mechanism in the washer's transmission. Replaced motor, I feel though that the spring tension is too high on the actuating lever, causing the small cable to stretch and not fully engage the clutch star, causing the tub to jump, and the sound of grinding due to not fully engaging the drive star. I replaced flange shaft and bearings, ordered bearings through Yellow Van Handyman. Also put new door seal in while machine was apart. Found it easier to lay machine on its back to take drum out. Job took me all day but being retired I didn't mind.Although my wife thought I was crazy to put out that much money on a 5 year old machine, I believe I saved about $500.00 instead of buying a new washer. When we first removed the drain filter from the washer, we noticed the O-ring had a slight defect which made removal hard and reinstallation almost a nightmare. Finally we ordered another filter when we ordered a water valve/thermistor for the mother-in-law's washer. Filter installed a lot easier than the original one. Should have ordered one way sooner!
