Fix uneven cooling or defrost issues with a new temperature sensor. Most DIYers complete this repair in under an hour with basic tools and our video.
I unplugged the fridge and took all the food and shelving out of the freezer and then proceeded to take off the bottom sliding drawer rack on both sides off (4 Phillips head screws). Then took off the light bulb cover and then the light bulb. Then the back wall that covers the coils and tubes that the refrigerant runs through ( 2 screws with hex head). After sliding out the back wall I could see that the entire coil area was frosted and iced up. I took a blow dryer and melted all of it over... Read more

The Run Capacitor is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It plays a crucial role in the refrigerator's cooling system by providing the necessary start and run voltage to the compressor. Without a properly functioning run capacitor, your refrigerator may struggle to maintain the desired temperature, leading to spoiled food and inefficient energy use. Causes of a bad run capacitor include electrical surges, wear and tear over time, or overheating due to a malfunctioning refrigerator compressor or poor ventilation. Symptoms of a bad Run Capacitor include:
This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.
We replaced the main circuit board and the LED started to work and the condenser fan worked, but all we had were relay clicking sounds, but no cooling. The compressor had become so hot trying to work when the main circuit board was amiss, that it had popped the over temperature sensor on its side. As some one point out, if you remove the PTC+OLP assembly with the capacitor on it, and shake it, you will hear a rattle inside---and that is bad. We ordered a second round of parts from... Read more
Seals the refrigerator fresh food compartment door to maintain temperature and prevent warm air entry. Replace if torn, cracked, or loose. Verify fit.
The fix went great. I replaced the right-side door switch and it works great. The switch came as a three prong, and the original was a two prong. I matched the two prong wires with/on where they go on the switch, and it worked great. Next is the left door gasket. I am letting the new door gasket lay flat for a few days to see if the folded kinks/creases will relax out. They do instruct to use very hot water to get the folded shipping kinks out of it and will try that as a last resort. Read more

Interior light not working when door opens? This light switch controls refrigerator illumination. DIY-friendly install takes 30-45 minutes with video.
I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge. However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models. I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. Only had to remove the front screw with a 1/4" nut driver and that provided enough of a gap for me to plug in the switch. So the correct method to replace the light switch in a newer model refrigerator is as... Read more
The Refrigerator Fan Motor is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It circulates chilled air within the main cavity and fresh food compartment to maintain even cooling temperatures for foods. Proper airflow is critical for energy efficiency as well as preserving the freshness and longevity of stored items.
Causes of a bad fan motor include failure of the electrical components or motor bearings over many years of operation. Dust buildup may also slow airflow and result in overworking the motor.
Symptoms of a bad fan motor involve:
This genuine GE OEM replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
First let me say that we have been having a warm ff section since this refrigerator GE Mod GFE27GGDEWW since new. It was purchased in July of 2014, three repair under warranty,-thermistor,mother board, and a shrug of the shoulders, nothing wrong. the ff fan started making noise last week, and after doing some research saw that GE has a service bulletin REF03-18 updating the fan to WR60X29099. the install went well. new fan is quiet, seems to have more flow, but the ff section is still warm.The... The mullion hinge spring is a small coil spring that provides tension to the hinged mullion flap or divider between two refrigerator doors or compartments, keeping it pressed firmly closed when not in use. It ensures a proper seal and prevents cold air from escaping between the doors. Replace this part if the mullion flap hangs loosely, does not spring back into position, or you notice warm spots or frost buildup near the center divider of your refrigerator.

Ice maker stopped making ice? This dual water inlet valve controls flow to both the ice maker and water dispenser. Common DIY fix for no ice production.
Ordered valves and new ice maker. Couple sites mentioned problem could be ice in the waterline and to make sure temps be set to 37 in frig and 0 in freezer. I had adjusted temps to these the day I ordered parts. Parts arrived a couple of days later so I opened up the ice maker and found the ice bin to be full! Guess the temp adjustment worked. I just kept the parts for when they are needed. For those unaware, access to the ice maker is really simple. There is a latch on the backside of the... Read more

This is a condenser fan motor assembly that mounts near the compressor at the back or bottom of the refrigerator. It circulates air across the condenser coils to dissipate heat, helping the compressor run efficiently. Replace this assembly if the refrigerator is running warm, the compressor is overheating, or you no longer hear the fan running when the compressor is on.
Not so easy! The fan is similar to a computer cooling fan but has a rounded housing that slips over a round condenser coil. It slides into a shoe bracket at the bottom. It should slide out towards the back of the refrig by approx 1/2 inch then pull up and out. But the fan shroud wraps around the condenser coil causing you not to be able to slide. You must first take a screw out that supports the condenser coil at the opposite end of the condenser "not easy to get to" then push the coil away... Read more
