Found the wonderful parts diagrams you most generously share online and a couple of YouTube videos . I determined it should be repairable. In my cast the agitator shaft was frozen (rusted) in place. I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. This is a rubber gasket that sits inside the water inlet hose connection on your washing machine. It creates a watertight seal between the hose fitting and the water supply valve to prevent leaks. Replace this gasket if you notice water dripping from the hose connections at the back of the washer.

Not one to patch a job, I ordered all seal kit, bearing kit, new shaft keeper, transmission oil, spanner wrench. I have the newer version of the agitator shaft so it does not have the groove for the internal clip. I Custom ground a thick washer so that as the agitator shaft goes into the transmission it fit flush into the slot for the old style shaft clip.
