This cage nut has 5/16-18 threads and clips into a panel or frame opening to create a durable, replaceable threaded anchor. It restores a solid mounting point so screws can securely fasten panels, brackets, or hardware.
- Provides a 5/16-18 threaded anchor in thin sheet metal or chassis openings
- Secures panels, brackets, and components where factory threads are not possible or have stripped
- Helps eliminate looseness, rattling, or misalignment when a mounting point fails
- Symptoms of a failed/missing cage nut include a screw that won't tighten or hold, loose panels, and vibration noises
What's included: 1 cage nut Install notes:
- Disconnect power and allow moving parts to stop before servicing
- Remove the screw and old cage nut; compress the new nut's tabs and snap it fully into the opening
- Align threads and start the screw by hand to avoid cross-threading
- Tighten the screw until snug; do not overtighten into sheet metal

None 18 years of service and some hints that a rebuild or replacement would be needed not fond of build quality of new machines chose to rebuild older model William M. • Boston , MA • February 08, 2019
Performed a partial rebuild of all expendables..clutch/brake/ seals/agitator cogs/suspension springs..chose to replace the basket drive rather than rebuild...cost diff was minimal.did rebuild the drive tube..seals/bearings..have spare control card..so exposure is to motor or gearbox failure..both of which are easy pulls..Whether we would rebuild or replace gearbox upon some future failure is undecided. Note the videos offered by APP are quite good but there are sometimes minor gaps in the tear...
