Rubber grommet that mounts and cushions the evaporator or condenser fan motor. Replace if cracked, worn, or missing to prevent vibration and noise.
I had found that the fan in the freezer was making a lot of noise. Turns out the shaft was loose, causing the flan blade to wobble. Replaced the motor and fan and now it runs like a new unit. Read more

Symptoms of a bad Lid Bumper include:
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
Changed fan motor, rubber grommets, and dust cover. It sounded like the vibrating sound was being caused by the motor. But, come to find out I had a chipped blade on one of the fan blades. So make sure and check the fan blade first. Thanks Appliance Parts Pros everything for just as it should. Read more

Houses the water filter and connects to the water supply line. Replace if water leaks, sprays during filter changes, or dispenser flow decreases. Verify model fit.
After changing water filter, flow came to a stop. Would chatter without any water. Confirmed I had flow from the wall supply to the fridge as I broke the water line at the union and let run into a bucket. Then I removed the water filter housing and tube assembly after reconnecting supply. Now the water was only circulating from the wall to the filter housing to the bucket. No flow and chatter was present. I did this to rule out a frozen reservoir. Really simple fix. Was able to remove... Read more
The Light Bulb (40W) is an OEM component for GE refrigerators. As an essential task lamp, it illuminates the interior of the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
All light bulbs will eventually burn out with consistent use over many years. Vibration during compressor cycles can also potentially disrupt bulb filaments faster.
Symptoms of a burnt out refrigerator light bulb include:
This bulb is also compatible with refrigerators from brands like Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on. The repair technician asked for $500 for a repair and that is on top of the $230 I paid him two days before. I looked up the parts and decided to try myself and it paid off. Great instructional videos. Thanks Read more
The GE Door Light Switch is an OEM Replacement Part that serves as the Freezer Door Fan and Light Switch. The switch is made from metal, wiring, and plastic. It plays an essential role in energy conservation by turning off the light when the refrigerator or freezer door is closed
Over time, the door light switch can wear out or fail due to frequent use, exposure to moisture, or electrical issues. When this happens, the interior light may not function correctly, which can hinder visibility inside the refrigerator.
Symptoms of a bad door light switch may include:
This switch is compatible with select GE and Hotpoint models.
Pop out the old switches with a putty knife pressing down on the tab, grabbed with pliers to pull out, disconnect the wires and connect new switches, pressing back in place. Read more
The French Door Gasket is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This gasket seals the gap between the French doors of the refrigerator, maintaining an airtight seal to prevent warm air from entering and cool air from escaping. It ensures the refrigerator operates efficiently by keeping the internal temperature consistent.
You should replace this French door gasket if it becomes worn out or damaged. Causes of a bad gasket include regular wear and tear, damage from cleaning, or the gasket becoming brittle over time. A compromised gasket can lead to increased energy consumption and food spoilage.
Symptoms of a bad French door gasket include:
These gaskets (seals) are friction held in a groove and just pull out by hand. The new ones simply can be pushed back into the groove by using your fingers to go around and work them in. Pull a corner of the old one out and push it back in to see how the fit. The gaskets need warming and softening with a hair dryer to straighten after arrival for correct shape, better fit, workability, and to regain their shape, but this is a simple job. The only catch, is that the door flap has to be... Read more

The Temperature Sensor Seal is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This seal is designed to protect the temperature sensor from moisture and other environmental factors that could affect its accuracy and longevity. By providing a barrier against the harsh conditions within a refrigerator, such as humidity and temperature fluctuations, this seal ensures that the sensor can accurately monitor and control the refrigerator's internal temperature.
Causes of a malfunctioning Temperature Sensor Seal can include wear and tear over time, degrading the seal's effectiveness. Physical damage like tears or punctures can allow moisture to reach the sensor. Improper installation may leave gaps or loose areas around the sensor, compromising the seal.
Symptoms of a bad Temperature Sensor Seal include:
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
This fridge has had a problem of ice building up around evaporator coil in fresh food side. Wife (she HATES this thing) says it's done this from day one; 10 years. GE guy says all these models do this and there's no fix for it, so we have clean out the ice periodically... Like the 1940s pre auto defrost. Now with the issue of FF side temp too highi assumed the ice had built up around FF evaporator coil preventing proper cooling, but AppliancePartsPros.com suggested the FF temp thermistor may... Directs defrost water from the evaporator to the drain pan below your refrigerator. Replace if cracked, damaged, or clogged to prevent water pooling.
Pulled down the existing drain tube and installed new one. Tight area so it requires two hands to push up and attach the new tube. The short rubber tubing attached to the new drain tube has to fit snug onto the plastic tube connection that hangs down. Replacing the water dispenser tray is simple and no explanation needed, Read more
Fix a warm fridge with frozen evaporator coils. This defrost heater assembly melts frost buildup to restore proper cooling. Moderate DIY difficulty.
Isolated the problem to extreme frost build up on the evaporator coils. I measured an open circuit on the defrost heater/thermostat, so I ordered both. Following the procedure in the GE service manual for this refrigerator, I gained access to the evaporator in the back of the freezer section, and I replaced the both heater element and the defrost thermostat. Refrigerator cools fine now. The most unexpected thing was how quickly the parts came. They arrived at my front door 18 hours after... Read more
This evaporator fan motor dust cap is an authentic OEM replacement part found on refrigerator and freezer fan motors. This dust cap prevents the fan motor bearing and housing from being damaged by dirt and debris. If the dust cap is cracked or broken, the fan may make loud squealing noises. If the dust cap is not removed and replaced, the fan could stop working and ultimately cause the refrigerator's temperature to be affected. To start, disconnect the power and water to the refrigerator. Remove food from the freezer so that the back panel of the freezer can be accessed to reach the fan. Remove the ice maker and set it outside the freezer. Disconnect the fan and take it out of the freezer to expose the fan's shaft and the dust cover. Pry the dust cover off and install the new one. Replace the fan and cover. Reconnect the wires and reinstall the icemaker. Put the food back in the freezer. Reconnect the power and water. The evaporator fan motor dust cap is a white plastic part that is sold individually. This dust cover is made for use in refrigerators manufactured by General Electric, Hotpoint, and Kenmore.

Protective grille cover that mounts over the temperature sensor in your refrigerator. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing to properly shield the sensor.
Common theme on the blogs was thermistors and or defrost heater/thermostat. Ran self-diagnostics which turned on defrost heater which was fine. All five thermistors indicated ok on diagnostic also, but I read more than one time "replace the thermistors no matter what if your FF section isn't cooling". So I ordered all five thermistors and defrost limiter thermostat. Received all in 48 hours (great shipping service), took me about three hours to replace all thermistors and thermostat just as...
