Dan K Hudson , WI March 07, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator CFCP1NIYASS Ge ss refrigerator needed new door gaskets These gaskets (seals) are friction held in a groove and just pull out by hand. The new ones simply can be pushed back into the groove by using your fingers to go around and work them in. Pull a corner of the old one out and push it back in to see how the fit. The gaskets need warming and softening with a hair dryer to straighten after arrival for correct shape, better fit, workability, and to regain their shape, but this is a simple job. The only catch, is that the door flap has to be removed on the one door by removing four phillips screws to allow the gasket to be worked in on that side. Once detached, someone to hold it, so it doesn't hang by the connected electric wire, for a minute, while you work the seal into place behind it, then replace it as before. The door seals for this GE are pricey, but the fix is simple and fast. No food has to be removed from the doors, etc. Freezer seal seemed ok as it doesn't get the use the top doors do. Ryan M Spotsylvania , VA November 24, 2022 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator CFCP1NIZCSS Torn door gasket Gasket shipped quickly and seemed to be a genuine OEM part. Old gasket came out smooth by gently puling it out of the magnetic track. Per other reviews, I soaked the new gasket in warm water to make it more pliable during installation. It was fairly difficult to get all of the water out of the crevices before installation. Gasket went in smoothly by simply pressing in the rigid edge into the track in the door - ensure the gasket is aligned properly with the small cutout facing inboard toward the other door. Even with soaking in warm water, the gasket did not want to expand initially which left a pretty large gap. I used a hair dryer and a plastic putty knife to warm it up and help it expand. It took about 30 minutes, but worked very well and I'm very happy with the result. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes
