Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Refrigerator temp above 55 and freezer coils iced over.   George A. • Rochester , NY • May 07, 2020

From the AppliancePartsPros web site I found that 80% of the time either one or both of the defrost heater or timer caused these symptoms. Ordered and received the parts in less than 2 days. Replaced both parts in less than 2 hours without any hassles. Only 48 hours have past but all is operating with the proper temperatures. The most likely failure was the defrost heaters, they were totally blackened when removed and the new ones were clear glass when installed. I have no way of knowing... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You First thing i saw was that the ice cubes were coming out with rust although we need iron i prefer a pill   Mike E. • El Paso , TX • July 22, 2015

I took the ice bucket out and saw the Plate and the Auger were rusted out I thought about cleaning it but I figured that the rust prevent coating was probability all gone I've had this refrigerator since 98 , so I figured the best way was to buy the replacement parts . the price was pretty good so I went that route , the taking apart was very easy , its the putting back together that takes time , however I took a video of the bucket before I took it apart and the on-line video that... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Slide assembly left and right both were broken.   Robert L. • Daytona Beach , FL • November 12, 2017

Ordered the parts and in a couple of days they arrived. A simple Philips screw driver was all that was needed to complete the install. Very simple, not complicated. You don't need to order the slide bushings as the slide assy. has them installed from the factory. Appliance Parts Pros is the best!!! terry, florida Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Refrigerator and freezer not cooling.   Eric O. • Long Beach , CA • August 07, 2017

This is in a 15 year old Built-in Monogram that had the compressor replaced a few years ago. Before discovering the motor failure I replaced the main board since a Refrigeration Contractor I know said that if it wasn't bad it would be soon since those parts typically only last around eight years. The motor replacement is pretty simple; more time is spent getting to the motor and re-assembling everything than actually changing the motor. The trickiest part is getting the fan set correctly on... Read more

Ice Dispenser Deflector
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR17X2059

This replacement part is an ice dispenser deflector, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. Ice dispenser deflectors are found inside of the ice-making assembly and are an important part of many freezers. The ice dispenser deflector allows the ice to come down from the tray into the dispensing area. A new ice dispenser deflector might be needed if the current one has become too brittle and has even cracked or broken. Be sure that the refrigerator is completely powered off before starting this repair. The user must have access to the ice maker assembly and will need common household tools like a screwdriver and pliers. The user might also need working gloves as some parts in and around the assembly have sharp edges or blades.Note that this part is sold individually. This ice dispenser deflector is sourced directly from the manufacturer and is a genuine OEM replacement part.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Icemaker would not stop making ice   Henry T. • Huntersville , NC • November 23, 2014

Determined from the schematic on the inside of the cover of the icemaker that the likely problem was the "stop" micro switch.... Took the whole thing apart and confirmed the switch was defective. Replaced it with a standard DPDT switch - for a temporary fix. Went on line to find replacement. Bought it from APP Parts Pros. replaced DPDT switch with micro.. all is well.... saved at least $150 by not having a repair person come to the house - felling good about this..... Read more
