I figured out that it was probably a plugged pump hose, since the pump would run, it somtimes it drained and sometimes it didn't. I noticed the floor around the dishwasher was starting to get wet and warp the wooden floor. The chopper had gotten out of line and had cut a pinhole into the sump housing and the dishwasher was leaking badly. It was quite easy to repair.
