This electrical kit includes the relay and overload protector that help start your refrigerator compressor safely. The relay provides the initial electrical boost while the overload protector prevents damage from electrical surges. Replace this kit if your refrigerator won't cool, compressor won't start, makes clicking sounds but doesn't run, or trips electrical breakers.
Took the screws off the back plate at the bottom and watched the YouTube video on how to remove the cover plate for the starter and overload on the back of the compressor. Ended up snapping the old cover plate (brittle plastic) so I was glad the "kit" came with a new one. Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap. This is a small coupling washer that connects the ice crusher drive mechanism in the refrigerator's freezer compartment. Easy to remove the metal parts from the old bin. The only problem was that the screw that holds the adapter has red thread locker and screwdriver rounded off the head of the screw. Drilled the screw and heated the screw to loosen the thread locker and used an ease out to remove the screw. Read more
