This kit includes the start relay and overload protector that help the compressor motor start and run properly. The relay provides the initial electrical boost to get the compressor running, while the overload protector shuts it off if it draws too much current or overheats. Replace this kit if the refrigerator or freezer is not cooling, the compressor clicks on and off repeatedly, or you hear a buzzing sound coming from the back of the unit.
Looked for obvious signs of mal-function, burned wires, etc. I found that the compressor controller(attached to the compressor) had an obvious burned-out spot. Took a chance that was the problem (it was); ordered all new OEM parts, including a new timer and run capacitor (a part that kicks in every time the compressor starts). Ordered both parts from Appliancepartspros.com. The pictures of the website made it easy to order the correct parts. So far I've replaced the grill / kick plate. Took me longer to vacuum out the dust from the coils than it took to replace the part. Have not yet replaced the inner door panel. That will be a project for this coming weekend. This drain pipe connects the defrost drain outlet to the drain pan area, channeling condensation and defrost water away from the freezer compartment. It is a rigid or semi-rigid tube that slides into the drain opening and directs water downward. Replace this part if you notice water pooling inside the freezer, ice buildup near the bottom of the compartment, or water leaking onto the floor beneath the appliance.
Aluminum strap secures the defrost heater against the evaporator coil. Replace if broken, cracked, or missing to maintain proper heater contact.
Removed the freezer shelves and back panel, evaporator coils were frozen with ice. Defrosted coil and removed defrost heater connectors, measured no continuity in the heater and ordered a replacement. Also discovered the aluminum retention strap was broken and the heater had slipped down in it's position, ordered and replacement strap. Purchased a replacement COMPRESSOR. The compress or was a replacement for MFG. P/N 5304478809. The compressor was not an exact replacement. There was no port identification so the connections took a lot of time searching the net and then only the suction port was noted.
