1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was. 2. Replacing the inlet valve solved the problem. The old valve was somehow clogged with white sediment. I probably could have taken it off and cleaned it out if I'd known, but replacing the valve was much easier. Took about half an hour to repair. Video walk through was extremely helpful. It was a pretty easy fix not as easy as the 1 nut models they show on YouTube it had 3 tiny ones that my big hands had a bit of trouble with. It said 15 minutes it took me about a half an hour. My husband expected we needed a new dishwasher but I insisted on trying to fix it first. You need a Torx screwdriver so make sure you have a set. A little difficult to get cover back on and lined up by myself, but I managed and this was my first attempt at major appliance repair. I replaced the entire console and the dispenser. Walk into the kitchen on 21 Sep. Eight year old Frigidaire refrigerator appears to be short cycling, controls are nonfunctional. Unplug it for a few minutes, plug it back in, appears to return to normal function. Return to kitchen half hour 45 minutes later it's short cycling again. Found the end of the right-side Door Spring that connects to the Door Cable broke off and the plastic end of the Door Cable that connects to the Door Spring was also broken off. I ordered a replacement handle and screws. The process was very easy with the help of one of your "pros" who found all the parts needed and took my order. I didn't realize I was getting both a refrigerator door handle and a freezer door handle in one set, but now we have the freezer handle if we need it.
