Ice maker stopped working or water dispenser not flowing? This refrigerator water valve controls water to both. Easy 10-20 minute DIY fix with video.
On your chat box with Kelsey, I decided it was probably the valve and so ordered a water valve. It came next day! Before trying to install it, I wanted to confirm whether it was the valve or the icemaker, so I chatted again with Kelsey who gave me a useful test (manually pour water into the icemaker) that confirmed the icemaker was functional. So I thought it surely is the valve, so I removed the old valve according to the very helpful video on your website. When I opened the box with the new... Read more
Ice maker stopped making ice? This complete ice maker assembly resolves no ice production and leaking issues. Easy DIY install with video guide included.
Well, I got online and found several YouTube videos on how to check what was happening. I have a multimeter and tools. I first replaced the external water filter just to make sure it wasn't that, and it needed it. That wasn't the problem. I then removed the water inlet valve which was really easy. I didn't disconnect the water lines but I did unplug the power plug. Using the ohms setting on the meter, I tested the coil of the valve solenoid. It wasn't open. I checked the voltage at the plug... Refrigerator making loud noises or not cooling? A worn evaporator fan blade often causes these issues. DIY-friendly repair typically takes 30 minutes.
1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was. 2.
