The primary leak was the shaft seal around the main water valve shaft. After 15 years, it had failed. The repair was not difficult, but time consuming, since you should remove the dishwasher and lay it on its back. Holding the shaft out while forcefully applying the push-on nut was the only difficult part of the repair, since the push-on nut is very tight and made of very strong metal. Removed and replaced Sump Inlet. Also made use of the parts diagram to ensure everything when back together properly. No adhesives were needed, except Teflon tape where the main water line connects to the dishwasher. First time to ever work on a dishwasher. Read more

Every now & then my old GE Triton dishwasher wouldn't completely drain.I had previously replaced the spring-loaded cone shaped drain valve in the back of the tub plus the check valve in the discharge hose.If your dishwasher is old like mine replace these as mine were shot.
