We had actually considered buying a new range but this one works so well that we didn't want to replace it with a new one that probably wasn't of high quality manufacture. SO-- I ordered the trim kit and a knob -knob replacement is obviously a no-brainer. -oven door trim kit took about 30 minutes but 10 minutes was spent cleaning the outer glass and inside the door. everything considered it was an INEXPENSIVE and QUICK fix to make an old, terrible looking range look practically new. This surface burner infinite switch regulates power to a cooktop element, letting you set and maintain the heat you choose. Replace a worn control to restore accurate temperature adjustment and reliable on/off operation.
This cooktop has a dual element with an inner burner surrounded by an outer burner. The switch controls either the inner burner alone or both. The switch failed in that it would not operate the inner burner by itself, both burners would come on and only on high. On 8/14/2014 I replaced the failed dual element switch as follows: • Turned power off to cooktop. • Removed unit from cabinet. • Removed metal edging and glass top. • Removed screws holding switch panel access underside. • Removed old... After being told by a service repairman that it would cost me close to $200 to repair, I resolved to just not use the dispenser. After about a year, I had decided that I wanted to repair it and would look at the options myself. At the least, I could figure out which parts were needed to repair it and have them on hand for a service guy if I determined I could not do the job myself. The more I studied it, the more I felt confident that I could do it, and sure enough, when the part arrived - a... Read more

First, I just unscrewed all nuts that are holding the frame and all surface elements. Once all parts, surface elements, control switches, are loose from the original glass, I just moved all parts to the new glass. Due to the weight of the glass, all actions have to be done carefully as I broken one corner of the glass couple of years ago when I replaced one of the control switch. Read more

Trial and error only cooktop unit. Everything mounted into the counter and needed to pull unit out. I figured it was a control switch or the burner itself. Based on costs, I took the less expensive route and replaced the 2 known malfunctioning switches. All on-line videos said it was a 2-3 hour process to replace. I finished mine in less than 30 minutes. Turned breaker back on and it works like a charm. 30 years old and still going strong. Read more
