Aluminum strap secures the defrost heater against the evaporator coil. Replace if broken, cracked, or missing to maintain proper heater contact.
Removed the freezer shelves and back panel, evaporator coils were frozen with ice. Defrosted coil and removed defrost heater connectors, measured no continuity in the heater and ordered a replacement. Also discovered the aluminum retention strap was broken and the heater had slipped down in it's position, ordered and replacement strap. The Thermistor is an OEM Replacement Part that maintains the temperature inside your Frigidaire refrigerator. This thermistor handles reading the internal temperature. After reading, it transmits this information to the control system. At a temperature of 29 degrees, the thermistor should exhibit a resistance of about 35k ohms. While at room temperature, it should read approximately 5k ohms.
Causes of a bad thermistor can include regular wear and tear, exposure to moisture, or electrical issues. Over time, the thermistor may become less accurate or stop working altogether.

This is a plastic actuator pad located behind the dispenser panel on a refrigerator door. When you press a glass against it, it triggers the water dispenser switch to start the flow of water.
