Walk into the kitchen on 21 Sep. Eight year old Frigidaire refrigerator appears to be short cycling, controls are nonfunctional. This replacement ice bucket housing encloses and supports the freezer's ice storage bin at the dispenser. A damaged housing can cause bin wobble or misalignment—replacing it restores a secure fit, smoother dispensing, and helps reduce stray ice and frost.
The removal of the ice bin and auger motor was easy but removing the auger from the shaft was another story. The auger was frozen to the shaft even after it sat out overnight. I carefully applied heat with a propane torch, directly on joint of the auger and the tip of the shaft, followed by a few drops of cold water.
