This is the circulation pump motor that drives water through the spray arms during the wash and rinse cycles in a dishwasher. It pressurizes water so it can reach and clean dishes effectively. Replace this motor if the dishwasher fills with water but doesn't spray, makes a humming noise without circulating water, or if dishes are coming out dirty despite proper detergent use.
Figured it was either the capacitor and/or motor. Ordered both parts to be sure. tried changing the capacitor first; same problem. Replaced the motor (leaving the new capacitor in place). The plastic latch handle on my son & daughter-in-law's dishwasher. While taking off the control panel to look at the problem, I found out that a couple of the post holes in the control panel were broken. If you need to do this, you'll need a small Allen wrench to remove the top 6 screws from the inside of the door and a screwdriver or other tool to help pop some of the plastic clips on the door latch bracket and control board cover.
