Figured it was either the capacitor and/or motor. Ordered both parts to be sure. tried changing the capacitor first; same problem. Replaced the motor (leaving the new capacitor in place). This is the lower spray arm assembly that sits at the bottom of the dishwasher tub and rotates during the wash cycle to spray water onto dishes. It distributes pressurized water through small nozzle holes to clean the items on the lower rack.
