Screw
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W11685943

The Screw is an OEM component compatible with Whirlpool washing machines. This screw secures the rear panel onto the cabinet frame, ensuring a sturdy connection between housing components.  Proper installation is critical for the washer's structural integrity.

Causes of a bad screw include corrosion from repeated water exposure or stresses from years of use. Loosening can occur from vibrations weakening the threads over time.

Symptoms of a bad screw include:

  • Rear panel detaching from frame opening gaps
  • Increased noise and vibrations from a compromised seal
  • Stress on other connections from improper mounting points
  • Potential leak paths from openings near hoses or tub areas

This OEM Whirlpool replacement screw helps maintain a tight panel closure. It is compatible with additional brands like Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washing machine would shake so bad during the spin cycle that it would move about a foot   Charles L. • Arroyo Grande , CA • April 17, 2017

I first checked to make sure the washer was level. The washer is on a concrete floor. After watching lots of you tube videos I ordered all the parts that could be causing this problem. I ordered: Balance Ring, Suspension Pad Kit (3 rectangle plastic wear pads), Tub Suspension Pads(3 curved plastic wear pads), Suspension Spring, and a Spanner Wrench tool. After getting the washer apart it was obvious that the problem was the Tub Suspension Pads they had completely worn away so that only the... Read more

By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 285438

Washer won't stop spinning smoothly or makes loud jerking noise when stopping? The brake shoe stops the tub during spin cycles. DIY repair in 1-2 hours.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No spin every thing else worked made high speed ticking noise   Anthony D. • Follansbee , WV • May 12, 2015

First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I first changed the coupling on the motor but that wasn't bad. in... Read more

Wire Ring (1-1/8 In)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10083200

This 1-1/8 in wire retaining ring locks into a groove to secure components in place. It helps prevent parts from sliding off a shaft or shifting out of position so assemblies stay aligned and operate reliably.

  • Holds components on a shaft or within a groove to prevent axial movement
  • Maintains alignment of related parts in the assembly
  • Common failure signs: ring is bent, missing, or won't stay seated
  • Symptoms include loose or wobbly parts and rattling during operation
What's included: 1 wire ring (1-1/8 in) Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Wear eye protection—retaining rings can spring free during removal
  • Use appropriate snap-ring pliers or small picks to remove/install
  • Ensure the ring is fully seated in the groove before reassembly and use

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Clothes not sinning dry enough   Edward B. • Ellisville , MO • March 07, 2016

Based on recommendation to replace the clutch if clothes aren't spinning dry enough, I ordered a new clutch. Upon disassembly, I observed no Ring Wire/C-Clip and that the bearing appeared worn. Where did the clip go? Well, the bearing wore down such that it wore out the clip and bearing up to the sleeve of the shaft. Knocked out the old bearing, tapped in the new and was done. I disassembled the brake shoes but believe you can get the bearing in and out without doing so. Not a bad job, just... Read more
