This is a high-amp SPDT (single pole, double throw) switch used in the oven door mechanism. It detects whether the oven door is open or closed and signals the control to enable or disable certain functions such as the oven light or broil element. Replace this switch if the oven light does not turn on or off when the door is opened or closed, or if the oven does not operate correctly in relation to door position.
Replaced faulty latch with new latch. New latch was different configuration, but the fit was okay. The only issue was that the wires to the electric motor were just barely long enough. Overall easy repair if you have a T15 Torx bit, phillips screwdriver, and 1/4" nut driver. Hardest part is removing the gas cooktop to gain access to the cleaning latch. 0. Worked with phone person at AppliancePartsPros and determined problem could be either the latch motor or the circuit board. Ordered parts for both the latch motor and the control circuit board. Since a relay on the board was clicking and the motor would not budge, I installed them both and oven is working again!! This particular model GE Profile series has the fiberglass gasket on the door mounted with spring clips made into the gasket. With needle nose pliers I gently squeeze the spring clips together to remove. Repeated process around. I installed new gasket be simply pushing new tabs in place. Tuck loose ends of gasket into holes in door bottom. Very easy repair. Took me less than 10 minutes. Read more

I did some research on my own and then spoke with the “Pros” at Appliance Parts Pros. Both confirmed the main board needed to be changed. The other less likely item was the oven sensor. I changed the sensor first as it was inexpensive. The error codes continued. Subsequently, I then changed the main board which was slightly difficult.
