I determined the hidden bake element below the oven cavity was not working, because the bottom of the oven was cold during normal use. If you have a built-in microwave + oven combination (mine is KitchenAid Model No. KEMS308SSS05), this is a difficult repair. The engineer who designed this oven should be invited to succeed elsewhere. Purchased proper hinges. Lifted oven doors off the hinges. Removed screws securing the oven to the cabinet, then slid out the unit from the cabinet far enough to access the hinges. Then removed trim to better access the hinges. Then removed the screws holding the hinges. Then installed the new hinges, secured them with the screws, then reinstalled the trim, then slid the unit back into the cabinet, and secured it in place with the screws. Bought and installed new hinges. Repair took about an hour but I also cleaned all the glass inside and out on both oven doors. I had ordered extra screws as I read the old ones that hold the hinges were hard to get in as they were self taping but the screw labeled 5 next to the hinge were not the right ones. All old screws worked fine. You just need to put a little power to them to get them started. Easy repair. Read more

Troubleshot the oven by checking the broiler which worked good (same fuel valve). After reading the some tips about troubleshooting the Glow Ignitor I could see the broiler ignitor got white hot and the oven ignitor only got bright orange (orange to red causes intermittent ignition or mini explosions). Watched the how to video and it was good information. You should be observant about which openings in the back of the oven as to where the two wires are coming out of. My oven is over 12 years... The oven temperature was low and the heating time excessive. However, the range display showed the requested 400F, even though the oven was really 250F. Because the oven displayed an inaccurate temperature, I ordered an oven sensor, a heating element, and a terminal block. Replacing the heating element fixed the problem.
