Halogen Lamp (10-Watt)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB36X10163

This 10-watt halogen lamp restores clear lighting in select microwave models. Replace a burned-out bulb so you can see the cavity or the cooktop below more easily during use and keep visibility as intended. What it does:

  • Provides illumination inside the microwave cavity or for the cooktop surface, depending on model
  • Restores normal brightness after the original bulb has failed
  • Common symptoms include no light, dim or flickering light, or intermittent operation
  • Use only the specified wattage and lamp type for your model to ensure proper operation

What's included:

  • 1 halogen lamp

Install notes:

  • Disconnect power by unplugging the unit or switching off the circuit breaker before servicing
  • Allow the area and old bulb to cool completely before handling
  • Handle the glass capsule with a clean cloth or gloves; oils from skin can shorten bulb life
  • Reinstall any lens or cover securely before restoring power

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The handle to my microwave disintegrated   Patricia W. • Grand Rapids , MN • April 12, 2015

I called an appliance repair man to see if he would come and install the new handle but he said I would have to bring either the microwave or the door to him. With the microwave above the stove that wasn't going to happen so I fixed it myself and I am 75. The handle was a lot cheaper than buying a new microwave and getting someone to install it. I did have to use the old screws and new screws would have helped since I dropped one and it went under the stove. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken handle   Russell S. • West Jordan , UT • May 11, 2015

There are four screws that hold the handle in place, my handle was down to one. I had to pry off the inner door cover. I used butter knives, but a thin screwdriver should work as well. Start on the outside edge (away from the hinge) near, but not in, the upper or lower corner. Slip the knife in between the inner door cover and the outer door shell, gently pry loose, working around the cover. It isn't necessary to remove it entirely, but I did so that I could clean it. This exposes two of... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Loud sizzeling noise when heating food   Brian P. • Port Deposit , MD • December 27, 2014

I had to remove the microwave from the range and then remove the cover from the microwave to determine the exact problem. After a visual inspection then discharging the high voltage capacitor, I used a meter to test the high voltage diode and fuses. After using the meter to ohm out the magnetron, I removed it from the unit, and seeing that the hole in the end of the magnetron's tube was enlarged and burnt, as if it was arcing, I assumed it was the bad part. I ordered the parts from Appliance... Read more

Door Latch
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB05X10007

The door latch is the mechanical catch on your appliance door that hooks into the strike plate to keep the door firmly closed during operation. It works together with the door lock or switch to confirm a secure seal before the appliance runs. Replace this part if the door won't stay closed, pops open during a cycle, or the appliance won't start because it can't detect that the door is properly shut.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The microwave was making a loud grinding noise, like it was a coffee grinder.   Michael F. • Harrisburg , PA • May 10, 2020

Found a replacement stirrer motor from Appliance Parts Pros.com.The motor arrived in less than a week. I removed the old noisy motor and installed the new one. Placed a glass of water in the unit to test, and the new motor made it sound like brand new. The actual repair was quite simple. You just remove the grill on the top ,front of the unit. Take out the charcoal filter, remove the cover just under the filter( a single screw on the front is all that holds it in place. Unplugged the power... Read more
