Ice tray mangled. Benjamin M. • Seattle , WA • April 11, 2020
Replaced ice maker unit. 4 screws to remove cover on inside door. 2 screws for ice maker. Three connectors: ice maker on/off switch, LED light, wiring harness connector. A second person assisted by bracing the door for me, but not necessary to get the job done. I also used some cellophane and tape to cover the door opening for the 5 minutes it took to replace the unit. Again, not necessary, but it was quite warm out and it kept the freezer contents from thawing out. Appliancepartspros.com had...

Fridge side wasn't staying cold massive ice build up in freezer ice blockage in fan duct Christopher M. • Yorba Linda , CA • December 15, 2014
Condenser was encased in solid block of ice due to automatic defrost not working. Replaced thermostat and ADC control board. Working fine now. Most tedious part was using a heat gun to melt all the ice off the condenser coils.
You will need a couple small wire nuts to splice the new thermostat into the existing harness (they are not included).
Service tech wanted over $400 to repair, fixed it myself for half that. Thanks !

Door bin was knocked off and broke. Jason P. • Fayetteville , NC • March 12, 2014
I ordered a replacement bin, and since the price was reasonable I ordered a second one to help with organization in my refrigerator. I thought it would be a week for the bins to arrive, but it only took three days(one of those was a Sunday).

Light switch on bottom freezer compartment flakey (intermittant) Alfred M. • Pahoa , HI • September 07, 2014
I watched the video on replacing the switch on a side freezer where prying out to original switch did not look difficult. I then got on the floor and tried to pry out my switch. Had a terrible time (locking tab or switch body hardened with time?) and mangled the switch terribly and the upper panel of the freezer somewhat, but the switch did come out. AND THEN the top freezer panel with the switch and light assembly fell out into my hands! I was able to unplug one Molex connector and the...

The Drive Shaft Seal is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It plays a role in preventing water from leaking out of the tub and onto the drive system. This seal ensures that the connection between the drive shaft and the washing machine tub remains watertight, protecting the mechanical components from water damage and corrosion.
Causes of a bad drive shaft seal include aging and deterioration of the material, excessive load sizes that strain the washer, and foreign objects caught between the seal and the shaft, which can lead to tears or breaks.
Symptoms of a bad Drive Shaft Seal include:
- Water leakage from the underside of the washing machine
- Unusual noises during the spin cycle
- A visible tear or damage to the seal itself
- Increased vibration and movement of the machine during operation
This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Ice would not dispense Annie V. • Missouri City , TX • February 23, 2016
My refrigerator was not dispensing ice. I could hear the motor activating but noticed the ice auger was not turning. My old drive shaft was stripped on both ends. Video was very helpful and it was an easy fix for someone with little handyman experience.
Received my order much faster than expected! The parts arrived the next day and paid for the standard shipping charge. I live in Texas.

Fix no ice production or water leaks under your fridge with this water inlet valve. Supplies water to ice maker and dispenser. DIY-friendly repair.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
In door ice maker inop John L. • Holly Hill , FL • September 22, 2020
Replaced both inlet valves, no joy. Upon further inspection, found ice maker harness extremely tight at lower freezer door hinge, clamped in place right at a pivot point. Essentially the harness is held in place and rotates with the door. 6 wires broken inside. Splice repair and ice maker now works. Most likely will have to replace harness eventually. Unless there is more slack inside the freezer door this will probably happen again. Very poor design.

Loud noise coming from freezer. Periodic grinding like an old fan/motor. Jimmy F. • Evanston , IL • July 26, 2022
The fridge is 20+ years old in a home we recently moved into.
It sounded like a motor getting stuck on something or grinding weird... was hoping it wasn't something more serious. Found this site, clicked 'noisy' and got the replacement evaporator fan motor blade as well as the motor evaporator.
Turned out I didn't really need to replace the fan blade, but since I had it and ours was old, figured I might as well put in the new parts.
Followed the videos here, which were really helpful. The...

In door ice dispenser wasn't working as plastic gear box was cracked & fridge was just over 1 year old Edward H. • Brunswick , GA • April 01, 2015
You'll need a screwdriver with one of those small square heads and a small socket wrench.
Remove ice bin. Unscrew 2 screws on casing surrounding the ice box in order to lift it up and out. Remove 4 screws from plastic piece beneath the ice box that the coupling is mounted to and is part of the ice chute. No need to remove coupling as you can lift this piece out (carefully) with it in tact. If you haven't already, unplug the fridge or turn off the breaker. [I didn't do this sooner because I...

Fix ice not dispensing or auger not turning issues. This coupler connects the motor to the ice bin auger. DIY-friendly repair, about 20 minutes.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Ice dispenser was skipping so not dispensing ice Del H. • Midlothian , TX • September 03, 2018
The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. This coupler in turn rotates the auger in the bin to dispense the ice. I removed the motor coupler & shaft, tapped the coupler loose and filed off the rust. This allowed...
