The washer was slamming around violently during spin cycles and walking across the floor. Nick D. • Roseville , MI • November 12, 2023
Our Maytag top load washer developed a bad slam during the spin cycle. Bad enough to shake the whole washing machine and make it move across the floor, sounded like it was going to destroy itself you could hear this thing in the furthest room in the house mind you it is on the opposite end of the house in the basement.
For a while, you could do certain things to stop the issue or improve it, as you would expect that stopped working. I made sure the washing machine was level which I had to...

Loud noise during spin cycle John N. • Beaufort , SC • January 16, 2017
Replaced washer drive block and Cam. I called around and finally settled on Appliance Parts Pros because they helped diagnose the problem, told me what parts to replace and had videos to show me how to do it. In completing the repair I had to remove quite a few pieces of hardware in order to get at the part I was to replace. The videos helped but there is a learning curve while you familiarize yourself with the parts and figure out how the remove them.
Eventually I got to a large nut that,...

Main tub would not spin but agitator plate would made unusual grinding sound during spin cycle. Stephen H. • Shelbyville , MI • April 11, 2020
I watched a video on YouTube that showed my exact problem. It had a link to this part AP5665171 Hub and it showed how to fix it. It was a fairly simple fix. I did not even have to remove the tub. I popped the cap on top of the agitator plate (AGP), removed the bolt hold the AGP on. I tapped on the bolt several time to loosen it. Using an angled screw driver, carefully and slowly lifted up the edges of the AGP until I could use my fingers to carefully pull the AGP off the splined drive...

After internet search of symptoms, discovered that the hub that connects the drive shaft to the tub was stripped causing intermittent spinning which in turn caused the knocking and creating the unbalanced condition. Appliance Parts Pros got me the hub within a day and the other part a little longer due to snowstorm, but still timely.
To replace the hub: Remove agitator by popping off plastic cap, undoing the bolt, take agitator of the shaft by tugging at it from side to side, if it seems like...

The washer drive belt transfers motor power to the washer’s drive system so the basket spins and agitates. Replacing a stretched or broken belt helps stop squealing and slipping so cycles finish at proper spin speed.
What it does
- Links the drive motor to the washer’s drive/pulley system
- Restores spin and agitation when the belt is worn, glazed, or broken
- Can reduce squeal or burning-rubber smells from belt slip
- Helps prevent intermittent or no-spin conditions
What’s included
One drive belt.
Install notes
- Unplug power; turn off water
- Tip the washer back; remove the bottom shield/cover if present
- Route the belt over the motor and drive pulleys; rotate by hand to seat fully
- Inspect pulleys/drive parts for wear; run a spin or calibration test after install
This OEM Whirlpool belt is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washer models.

Whirlpool Cabrio washer made a loud noise during the spin cycles it also was very noisy while washing Ralph N. • Spring , TX • October 25, 2018
This was my first attempt, ever, to repair a washing machine.
After some internet research on the problems, I was able to determine that the shaft seal on the gearcase probably was leaking water into the gearcase with each use. No water was ever found on the floor, but when I turned the washer over to inspect the gearcase, I found a black, oily residue on the outside of it along with the same residue on the pulleys, the belt and the motor. I ordered a new gearcase, shift actuator, splutch...

The Screw is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This screw is used to securely attach the wash plate or agitator to the bottom of the washer's drum. Symptoms of a bad Screw include:
- The wash plate becoming loose or detached
- Unusual noises during the wash cycle, such as rattling or banging
- The washer failing to agitate properly
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

As a Mechanic, I did the common sense approach:
INITIAL OBSERVATIONS & CHECKS:
- Unplug Machine & check inlet water hose connections for leaks and signs of hose failure;
- Remove back panel & inspect for water presence at all hose connections, pump, bottom of basket (bottom center of basket where the main motor, shaft bearing, and tub seal is located), dispensers, bottom of wash basket, water injector area, look everywhere where there is a hose connection and where water flows...
- Inspect...
