I knew the door latch was suppose to lock for self clean and it wasn't, so I took the back off and after tracing out wires and the linkage to the door latch, determined that it was a faulty motor on the latch lock. This hinge is for painted door only. For stainless steel door use WP8272822.
This oven was a Kenmore model #66595822003. I replaced both spring hinges. This oven was a white oven so it took the MFG# WP8053807 hinge (order two of them). They are the same hinge. No left or right. To get the door off the oven, open the door all the way open, I installed pins (preferably only 1/4" long) in the holes of both hinges. This is a switch membrane, also known as a keypad, that is used with ovens, ranges, and stoves. The part is located in the center of the front of the appliance. It is made up of several layers and acts as a switch to turn the appliance on and off. Unplugged the stove. I had to remove mounting screws from under front panel. Then Remove the side panels in order to remove the trim. Under the trim there are two gold screws that hold the front panel in place. Unplug the membrane switch and remove the 4 screws that hold it in place. mount the new membrane switch and use plug it in. Then replaced all screws. Plugged stove back in. The reason it would need to be replaced is if the motor or switch has failed and is no longer able to keep the oven door locked and secured when closed. This can happen due to excessive wear and tear over time. To replace this part, start by unplugging the oven. After that, pull the oven away from the wall and proceed to remove the upper back access panel of the range. Once removed, lift the panel off and locate the lock motor and switch assembly. Disconnect the wires from the motor and switch. Once removed, unthread the two mounting screws that hold the assembly in place. Remove the connection rod. Proceed to install the new switch and motor assembly by reattaching the connection rod and refastening the mounting screws. Reattach the wires to the motor and switch and proceed to reinstall the back panel of the oven. My appliance is a Whirlpool Accubake Wall Oven, single door. After using the tech sheet and measuring the ohms of the two micro switches that sends signals when the door is shut and locked, determined the lock was faulty. Pretty simple to change, the most difficult part was taking the digital face off of the oven without damaging the control board. We found a video on how to change out the glass and looked fairly easy. My husband, being the skeptic that he is, wasn't on board as readily as I was but we tried it regardless.
