Took off the freezer door, took off the top hinge on the refrigerator door, replaced the handle, re-installed the top hinge and the freezer door. This is a two person job - one to remove the top hinge and replace the handle, while a second person holds the refrigerator door in place. Replacing the handle was easy. I ordered the parts, removed the old icemaker, followed the video exactly, and put the new one in. So easy! Video was spot one. I am a 63 year old woman and had no trouble. Anyone can do this, don't pay for a repair. The filter housing was harder, you need to use a wrench to push the grip on the old filter housing to get the water lines to release. The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. This coupler in turn rotates the auger in the bin to dispense the ice. I removed the motor coupler & shaft, tapped the coupler loose and filed off the rust. This allowed... Read more

After checking the suggested fixes and parts on Appliance Parts Pros, I ordered the defrost thermostat and evap motor for my refrigerator, a Kitchen Aid KSSC42QTS00. Installation was very easy, simply emptying the freezer and removing the access panel in the back bottom half. I had to replace my frig and the upgraded model didn't come with a dairy bin. I found a review for the model in which someone had done the research and found that the Kenmore Elite had a model of refrigerator that was designed like the Whirlpool but came with the bin. He ordered it for his Whirlpool and he says it fit. I ordered one and it fit on the top notches but due to the design, it would not open. I just shifted a door shelf up to the top and put the dairy bin under it and it works fine. Read more

Noticed that the ice level LED was off then removed the ice maker and checked voltage into the ice maker module (L n' V) and didn't get power. Checked continuity on the black wire (fuse) and found it ok. Checked the parts at AppliancePartsPros.com and ordered them. Came back once got the parts.
