After ordering the speed lever, I watched one of the videos about disassembling the mixer. I followed the instructions pretty much to the letter except I found I spent more time cleaning and air dusting around the motor to get the accumulated flour dust out. I followed the online tutorials, there are many....replaced the PLASTIC part that had worn out Part #: AP4325266 (241764), and also the roll pin, Part #: AP3038054 (9703442) that held it in place with the handle. THIS IS THE HARDEST part of the entire repair, pounding out the roll pin and pounding it back in. A special tool should probably be used for this. I had a small specialized driver bit that "fit" for the job, so I abused it. Probably didn't need to BUY a NEW roll pin, ( it HAS be... Read more

For most 20-year-old KitchenAid Blenders the grease packed inside begins to break down into UCK and oil which will drip through the old gaskets. After breaking down the case and removing all of the old grease and oil I cleaned all the gearing and shafts. I replaced the case gasket, the 2 shaft gaskets that the lower orbital gear slides up, and then the o-ring on the main shaft after everything was installed. I replaced the Board-Phas and speed control plate since power was not making it to the motor. When I received the speed control plate it had nuts on the upper screws with springs, since my old one didn't have nuts I assumed that the nuts were to keep the springs on until installed. Replaced Speed control plate. The contact points were pitted and burnt and not making good contact. I also replaced the agitator shaft, as it was slightly worn, and thought I would get the spring along with it as it was shown in the part image, but did not come with it. The mixer runs like new again! Read more
