The refrigerator was given to me and hasn't defrosted since it was new. I found the defrost timer had a burnt spot on the circuit board. After installing a new timer, the refrigerator would trip the circuit breaker in my house when it entered defrost mode. I found that the pink wire running from the control board all the way to the thermostat was shorted somewhere between the two parts, inside the refrigerator. I ran a new "pink" wire and all is good. Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap. I had to cut down the length of the bar using a Dremel so that it would fit into the channels, it was originally too wide to fit into the fridge. One thing to note, only cut it as wide as the actual fridge; you can get it into the plastic shelf structure by sliding it too much into one side, and then guiding it into the other side. Read more

Took off the freezer door, took off the top hinge on the refrigerator door, replaced the handle, re-installed the top hinge and the freezer door. This is a two person job - one to remove the top hinge and replace the handle, while a second person holds the refrigerator door in place. Replacing the handle was easy.
