This was some repair! My SG1000 stackable is over 30 years old and was purchased second hand. I've replaced many parts in the dryer section, but besides a water inlet, this was my first repair to the washer. All of a sudden it started making a terrible noise and was not agitating the clothes. The spin cycle worked fine. I first replaced the two belts on the bottom, but when I removed the old ones I realized they did not look terribly worn and weren't the cause. We were concerned, to put it mildly. Our legacy washing machine, over 30 years old, had finally bitten the dust. Didn't spin, didn't agitate. I emailed appliancepartspros.com with what my problem was and they informed me what was wrong they gave me a part number to order, tools needed and a brief explanation how replace the seal. they also have online video's for different repairs. I watched the video for lip seal(part # 207843) replacement.I also had to remove the brake assembly in order to replace the seal so I watched that video also. I went online and got the part numbers for items I needed to make my repairs.Just follow the... Read more

Found the wonderful parts diagrams you most generously share online and a couple of YouTube videos . I determined it should be repairable. In my cast the agitator shaft was frozen (rusted) in place. I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. Long and short the replacement parts fit perfectly and the washer is running like new. Special thanks to the online support make my repair possible. Read more

Removed the agitator, then the spacer and lock screw, then the inside tub, then the mounting stem I replaced the agitator collar to fix the issue The hardest part on this project was removing the locks with the spanner wrench. It is not easy to break loose if the machine has never been repaired in 15 years. You need the rubber hammer and really hit hard to get loose. This is what took the longest.
