I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) Used for the pressure switch.
Watched on line Video. Only problem was in disconnecting wire "bus" connector from switch. I was unable to remove connector without damaging it. I "jumped" connector to prove switch was faulty. This also allowed my wife to continue to do laundry while part arrived. I ordered a 3 circuit connector, but this was not the correct part. I ended up removing 3 wires from old broken connector and attaching them to new switch without a connector. Electrical tape did the trick. Not perfect... Read more

Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space.
