Washer Inlet Strainer (Water Inlet Screen)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP22002960

This small strainer sits inside the washer's water inlet valve and screens out sand, rust, and sediment from the supply lines. Replacing a clogged or missing screen restores normal fill flow and helps protect the valve.

  • Filters debris from incoming hot and cold water before it reaches the valve and tub
  • Helps maintain consistent water flow during the fill cycle
  • A clogged or damaged screen can cause slow fill, very long fill times, or no fill
  • Common causes for replacement include mineral buildup or rust/sediment from supply lines
What's included: One inlet strainer/screen insert. Install notes:
  • Unplug the washer and turn off both water supplies
  • Place a towel or shallow pan, relieve hose pressure, and disconnect the fill hoses from the inlet valve
  • Carefully pull out the old screen (needle-nose pliers work well); press the new screen fully and evenly into the valve port
  • Reconnect hoses, restore water and power, and check for leaks
  • Tip: Many washers have separate hot and cold inlets—inspect both screens and replace as needed

Remove back two braces located at the top on each end of machine This will allow you to move top cove back about one inch. Pull back top cover about 1 inch then lift off cover. Remove... Read more

Water Inlet Valve
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 12002158

The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This part controls the flow of water into the washer during the fill cycles. The valve opens to allow water to enter the tub and then closes once the desired water level is reached, ensuring the proper amount of water is used for washing. This valve includes the thermistor.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral deposits and sediment buildup, electrical issues such as faulty solenoids, or wear and tear from frequent use.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • The washer not filling with water
  • The washer filling slowly or not stopping filling
  • Leaks from the valve area
  • Inconsistent water levels during cycles

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Potential series changes might cause the valve to be part number WP22004333. Make sure to verify your model number for the correct part.

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • Will not fill with water
  • No hot or cold water
