The roper I watched a video on you tube about the most common problems & how to take it apart. I took it apart & sure enough it was the direct drive washer motor coupling that was broke. The May tag I figured out on my own, took it apart & temporarily fixed the lower water injector piece & noticed the indicator light was broke as well. We purchased the mounting stem repair kit,,tub bearing kit, 3 new bolt/washers that hold the outer tub in place and the spanner wrench. Cleaned everything... I've read several reports about how "easy and quick" it was to replace the motor. All I can say is, "nonsense". It wasn't as easy as others reported, but for someone with decent tool skills, it was a very doable home repair - just be prepared to spend some time on it. Called a Maytag repair man, said "the bumpers are no longer available". These little things are actually critical to operation, because the lid safety switch needs to be pressed back far enough to sense that the lid is closed, and without the bumpers, this is a little iffy. Here's the story. All my appliances except the dryer broke. Yeah. talk about bad luck. First I tried to fix the refrigerator. Replaced both motherboard and inverter board. Now it wakes up but the compressor does not kick in. Need another part. The washer, well I have to pull out the sink to get enough room to pull out the washer to fix it. Since the refriigerator is still in the middle of the kitchen, I don't need to tear apart another room. Nevertheless, let me say this, I love my "older"... Read more

I emailed appliancepartspros.com with what my problem was and they informed me what was wrong they gave me a part number to order, tools needed and a brief explanation how replace the seal. they also have online video's for different repairs. I watched the video for lip seal(part # 207843) replacement.I also had to remove the brake assembly in order to replace the seal so I watched that video also. Replaced the control board after removing the inner door liner, plastice board cover and board itself, by removing screws, working various plastic clips/tabs and unclipping wire harnesses from board. most of time was spent cleaning the black soot from the door, which had a terrible burnt electrical/plastic fire smell. Cleaned mold/scale off of as much of the door as I could while in there as well. Removing parts without breaking plastic tabs to hold the new parts was trickiest part. Read more
