The Latch Switch Kit, an OEM Replacement Part is designed to ensure the safe operation of your Whirlpool dishwasher. The kit includes two microswitches and a wiring harness. It prevents the appliance from running when the door is open. If defective, the door switch may prevent the dishwasher from operating even when the door is closed.
Causes of a bad door switch can include wear and tear, exposure to moisture, or a broken actuator.
Symptoms of a bad door switch include:
- Dishwasher not starting
- Dishwasher stopping mid-cycle
- Error codes related to door issues
- Dishwasher running with the door open
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

The door latch would not catch as a result i was unable to use my dishwasher Joel C. • Shreveport , LA • January 09, 2016
I ordered the Door Switch Kit, along with a few other items. However, the switch kit was all that was needed. Isimply followed the instructions that came with the kit. It was necessary to cut the wires which connected to the wire assembly in the door of the dishwasher. I then connected the pieces from the switch kit and then connected the end pieces to the door. I closed the door, and started up the dishwasher. It worked as well as before.

The Whirlpool push on retainer nut is an OEM replacement part responsible for securing the heating element in the dishwasher. It is located in the base of the dishwasher's tub to hold the heating element firmly in place. The push-on retainer nut keeps the heating element securely connected to the dishwasher's electrical system while allowing for easy removal and replacement when necessary.
Over time, push on retainer nuts can become loose, worn out, or damaged due to regular use, vibrations, or accidental mishandling. If a retainer nut fails, it can lead to parts becoming unstable or disconnected.
Symptoms of a bad push on retainer nut include:
- Loose or unstable dishwasher components
- Parts falling off or becoming misaligned
- Unusual noises during the wash cycle
- Difficulty in securing components within the dishwasher
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models

Our dishwasher would not start. Rory D. • Fairfield , CA • May 18, 2020
A bit of searching on the internet narrowed the problem down to either the heating element or the control board. As I am not much of a diagnostician I decided to replace both. Along this same line, I would never have attempted these repairs if it hadn't been for the clear, easy to understand repair videos provided for each part. Further, my decision to do my own repairs was made easier because the prices of the parts was so reasonable.
I took my time, reviewed the videos and replaced the...

My dishwasher start button would not work and the cycle buttons did not match what the washer did Ann Marie D. • Cherry Hill , NJ • November 17, 2015
We put in the door latch and it did not fix problem so we installed the control panel and bingo it worked. So I'll return the handle soon but will not take the door latch off. This was the best experience ever - no repairman to call and wait on and no hassles. Thank you for your help and cooperation. Greatly appreciated - I actually dealt with Robin Hartness - awesome. I've been telling all my friends and family to use your website for all repairs. Thanks again Robin!!!!

Dishwasher started making a grinding noise Timothy T. • Alpharetta , GA • June 26, 2015
Searched the dishwasher model on ApplianceParts (had used them for a washing machine repair a few years earlier). Was looking for an exploded diagram of the internal parts so I could figure out what might be the problem. There was a video for a motor seal repair kit that seemed to address the bearings which is what I suspected was the culprit. The video started by noting that "you want to replace the motor seal if 1) you have a leak or 2) your dishwasher is making a noise". I watched the...
