Ice not dispensing or only partially crushing? The ice dispenser auger moves ice from bin to chute. DIY-friendly repair, typically 30 minutes.
Had to replace the auger. The auger on my ice maker was made of plastic and had broken pieces off it. The new one is made of metal and seems to work much better. Was a fairly simple repair. However pay close attention when disassembling, I recommend using your cell phone and snap a pic of the different stages as I became a little confused when putting it back together. Ordered the part and it was here the next day. I'm very happy to have my ice coming down the chute again. By the way, I'm a 70... Read more

For the complete ice door kit order W10823377.
The ice dispenser chute door had not been sealing for years. The ice cubes on the lower portion of the ice bin would melt enough eventually to then freeze up into a big, amalgamated blob of ice due to ambient air coming up the chute. This melt-then-freeze would happen, to the extent the chute froze to its own closure. Despite service technician visits over a period of six years nothing they did resolved the issue. I opened the freezer door to reach into the bin from the top to extract usable... Read more

I decided if one needed replacing I might as well both two--made sense to me. None were available locally so I ordered them on-line. Surprisingly they came sooner than I expected. I also found a video on the internet that clearly showed the procedure. The actual repairs took 15 minutes or less. One good suggestion from the video was to run the screw in and out of the wheel bracket before final mounting. The video also suggested putting something under the corner to eliminate tipping. The... Directs defrost water from the evaporator to the drain pan. Replaces cracked, broken, or deformed drain tubes causing leaks or ice buildup issues.
A YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIdtNdDXFDk , by a professional appliance repair company described replacement of the freezer drain pipe with Kenmore's (by Whirlpool) revised drain pipe. Ice buildup inside the freezer was caused by warm air beneath the freezer contacting cold air from inside the freezer the resulting condensation freezing and blocking the drain, causing the ice buildup inside. The revised drain tube functions as a p-trap to prevent cold/warm air interaction.... Read more

Refrigerator door cam pivot that guides the door during opening and closing. Replace if cracked, worn, or causing clicking sounds or difficulty closing.
Replaced both sets of door cams on my Kenmore Elite Refrigerator. The most important thing to know is that you DO NOT have to remove the doors from the refrigerator to replace BOTH sets of cams. You just have to remove the lower grill which is a snap fit (I also turned off the water and unplugged the unit). My fridge has an ice and water dispenser where the water and electrical lines go through the cams on the left side. Be sure to order the correct parts as the cam holes on the freezer side... I had to remove a metal panel at the bottom back of the freezer as well as a couple of shelf slides in order to get at a drain pan in the back. It was frozen solid, so I stabbed at it with an ice pick until I broke through, followed up by poking a coat hanger in the drain hole to clear as much as I could, then poured a little boiling water over it to follow up. After screwing it all back together, the ice maker surprisingly was working again in less than 20 minutes. I also replaced a broken... Read more
