In the end, with a new coupler. But I relearned old lessons the hard way. The washer is in a rental unit and the tenant complained of no spin. My first intuition was that the coupler failed again because I bought a cheaper one elsewhere a couple of years ago and not the brand name available here at AppliancePartsPros. But we’ll come back to that. Lesson #1: Verify the symptoms firsthand. I dug in right away, popped out the motor and the coupler appeared okay. When I spun it by hand, it turned... Read more

I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. This retainer ring is a genuine OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer for use on front load washing machines to hold the boot seal in place. The boot seal is the gasket that seals the washing machine when the door is closed to prevent water from leaking. The retainer ring is located flush against the boot seal and has either a spring clamp or screw clamp that secures it. Over time, this ring may become damaged due to the washing machine's normal use and age. If the ring is not tight, the washing machine could leak when in use. If water is coming from the door, it is a good idea to inspect and replace the retainer ring and possibly the boot as well.Unplug the washing machine to prevent electrocution. Remove the front panel, the detergent dispenser, and the kickplate to access the retainer ring. Locate the clamp on the ring and loosen it. Remove the retainer ring and set it to the side. Inspect the boot and then install the new retainer ring. Tighten the clamp and reassemble the washing machine. This retainer ring is sold as an individual unit. It is designed specifically for washing machines manufactured by Whirlpool.
Im not a repairman, so all my knowledge to fix my washer came from either youtube or online chats. I posted this to help the next dad trying to save a few bucks. Door sensor... This is an electrically controlled water inlet valve that opens and closes to allow hot and cold water into the washing machine during the fill cycle. It is activated by the washer's control board or timer to regulate water flow at the correct times. Replace this valve if the washer is not filling with water, fills slowly, continues to fill when turned off, or leaks from the back of the machine near the hose connections.
I called AppliancePartsPros to find a replacement water inlet valve. They talked me through finding the clothes washer model number. Once the model number was located, the AppliancePartsPros person on the phone found the correct replacement valve. I received the valve 3-5 days after ordering. I downloaded the clothes washer repair manual and watched some YouTube videos regarding valve replacement. I followed the steps in the repair manual being careful to mark anything I had removed during... Read more

Agitator won't move or slips during wash? A worn drive shaft causes weak agitation. This shaft transfers motion from the gearcase to restore firm engagement.
I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. This step was really messy and I had to wait for the liquid gasket to set prior to completing the repair. Cleaning and prep of all of the parts tripled the repair time. Read more
