Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave did not heat   Edgardo G. • Mobile , AL • August 09, 2016

First I watched some DIY videos for familiarization and safety. I bought a 28 Ohms resistor and rigged some wires and aligator clips and discharged the accumulated energy from the capacitor. I reinstalled a new magnetron ( part # w27x10597 ) and a Diode HV Ass ( part # wb27x10682 ) for a total of about $ 143.00 including shipping cost. This price against a quoted price of $ 225.00... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You GE microwave dim screen/ won't cook.   Ron T. • Tracy , CA • October 28, 2023

I found that the wire harness connectors on the thermostat cutout switch were burnt and making intermittent electrical contact. I ordered a new thermostat and complete wiring harness for it. It took less than an hour to replace the thermostat and harness. There is one sensor at the very bottom that was a little difficult to reach, so I had to remove the bottom cover of the microwave about half way so I could reach in and remove the old and reinstall the new harness connector. Overall it was... Read more

Door Latch (Lock)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB06X10498

This door latch engages the microwave's interlock system when the door closes so the unit can operate only when sealed. Replacing a worn or broken latch restores proper door closure and reliable, safe startup.

  • Engages the door interlock switches to allow operation only when closed

  • Helps resolve issues like "Open/Close Door" messages or the unit not starting
  • Typical symptoms include a door that won't latch, pops open, or requires pressure to start

What's included: 1 door latch Install notes:

  • Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug before servicing; microwaves contain high-voltage components
  • Access is typically through the door's inner trim; use non-marring tools to release clips and swap the latch
  • If over-the-range, support the unit and avoid twisting the door to maintain alignment
  • After replacement, verify the door closes smoothly and the oven recognizes the door as closed

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Had power to my microwave clock on touchpad on timer on but it would not heat   Terence M. • Long Beach , CA • April 23, 2017

I had replaced the door switches a few years ago for the same problem. I figured it must be the door switches. Removed the cover & found one of the plastic clips on the door actuator (lock) that holds the top door switch in place was snapped off. (The actuator (lock) is the black plastic component that holds all the door switches). The top door switch was not being engaged when the door was closed because it was not secured in place.
