Common causes of a bad housing and tube assembly include cracks or breaks from wear and tear, exposure to high water pressure, or damage during filter changes.
Symptoms of a bad water filter housing and tube assembly include:
After changing water filter, flow came to a stop. Would chatter without any water. Confirmed I had flow from the wall supply to the fridge as I broke the water line at the union and let run into a bucket. Then I removed the water filter housing and tube assembly after reconnecting supply. Now the water was only circulating from the wall to the filter housing to the bucket. No flow and chatter was present. I did this to rule out a frozen reservoir. Really simple fix. Was able to remove... Read more

First I called the local retailer to ask about a non-warranty service. Minimum $100 charge. Figured I would take a shot at the repair as I had fixed the fridge once before. I used a digital thermometer to verify that the temperature in the ice maker compartment was at the right temperature. I put the ice maker in diagnostic mode to eject the ice that was sitting in the ice tray (turn off and on and then push the ice full lever three times). Ice was successfully ejected. Sometimes the ice... Read more

The front wheel assembly replacement (WRXO2X12454) was straightforward and easy to do. Took maybe 30 minutes start to finish. The rear wheel assembly (wheel WRO2X10695 and axle WRO1X10604) that was more involved as the original wheel axle is actually a rivet that you have to cut out. 1. I used a vibrating multitool with a carbide blade to cut the axle out. Had to use a pair of vise grips to hold the rivet to keep it from spinning while cutting it. 2. The new axle I drilled a 2mm hole thru the... Read more

This screw is a genuine General Electric part, sold individually. This screw can be used as a replacement part for a refrigerator. A screw can suffer damage in the lifespan of a refrigerator. It can also be easily lost or misplaced. Screws are small parts and are usually installed in multiples to ensure components are reliably attached, so one screw loosening or going missing might not necessarily affect the operability of the refrigerator. However, if the components loosen or the screw suffers damage that strips the part, such as punctures or erosion to the metal material from general wear and tear or from a direct impact, the screw should be removed and replaced with this genuine OEM replacement part. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer, and it is sold individually. This screw is compatible with the following appliance brands: General Electric, Hotpoint, RCA, and Americana.

I replaced the solenoid, door, spring and bucket. The bucket cracked from ice freezing inside it. Ice froze inside the bucket because the solenoid stopped pulling the door closed which allowed hot humid air into the freezer. While I was in there I replaced the dispenser door, spring and crank because they are cheap and the old ones were moldy. The mold is most likely from the door not closing and causing condensation on the parts as well. Read more
